  • Are you a dreamer? Do you constantly think about new and innovative ways to do something more productively? Want to make your creative ideas come to life with an app? The 'Mobile App Contest' segment of the 'Online Innovation Fest' hosted by CSE Department, MIST is giving you the opportunity to shine. Participate in the contest, amaze everyone with your coding skill and innovation; and take home the prize money and certificate.
    3 prizes from each category, i.e., a total of 9 prizes will be given for the Mobile App Contest.

    Prize money for each category:
    First prize: 15,000 BDT
    Second prize: 12,000 BDT
    Third prize: 10,000 BDT
  • Focus of the mobile applications: For this contest, we are looking for the android apps that belong to any of the three main categories, that includes: (a) Education under COVID-19, (b) Bangabandhu and 50 years of Bangladesh , and (c) Humanitarian Services under COVID-19. The details are given as follows.


Education under COVID-19

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, with the goal of alleviating the global crisis regarding online education, specific innovative apps for students and teachers are very much needed. Thus, mobile applications for mitigating the crisis of online education during the time of COVID-19 crisis is the prime focus of this category. However, any innovative mobile apps for imparting (online) education are also welcomed. For example, Apps for Remote learning and education management, mobile games, special apps for students with disabilities, etc.

Bangabandhu and 50 years of Bangladesh

  • The father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a vision of Shonar Bangla where the people of his country will live without despair. Thus, we are looking for innovative Apps that focus on celebrating the father of the nation and the 50 years of our independence by digitizing national history, national achievements and goals. This category also includes, but not limited to the apps that are educational in nature and convey the rich history and heritage of the country. Again, in this category you may foccus to identifying a national crisis that is hindering our progress to digitization to form the Digital Bangladesh and an innovative solution to overcome such problems.

Humanitarian Services under COVID-19

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing and managing the humanitarian services become a crucial concern around the globe. Thus, the innovative apps that address the humanitarian services under COVID-19 pandemic are mostly welcomed in this category. For example: COVID-19 relief and information, medical aid or food relief during or after this pandemic, blood banks, donating excess foods, remote health services, vaccination management, clothes, and medics. However, any other innovative apps providing humanitarian services like disaster management, assistive apps for disabled /visually impaired people, and providing the fastest route in emergency situations.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Document: The document should contain a synopsys that will highlight the objectives, key features, practical uses and implementation summary. The document length should not be more than 400 words.
  2. Video: A video file explaining all the features of the application. Navigating through each page and audio visual information on the feature should be covered in the video. Video length will be maximum 3 mins. (optional)

  1. Problem Statement disclosure: September 5, 2021
  2. Round 1 Submission: October 12, 2021
  3. Declaration of Shortlisted Teams: October 19, 2021
  4. Final Round Presentation: October 28-29, 2021
  5. Declaration of Winners in Each Category: October 30, 2021*

  • Judgment Criteria

    1. Content: Text, music, sound, and animation -information that is provided in the app- all work together to communicate with the user in a clear and concise manner. Relevant, entertaining, and user-acceptable material is expected.
    2. Structure and Navigation: The framework of an application, the organizing of material, the priority of information, and the technique by which you travel across the app should be uniform, intuitive, and transparent.
    3. Visual Design: High-quality, user-friendly appearance and relevant for the target audience.
    4. Functionality/Performance: The app should perform properly, with all functionality implemented, and load efficiently, putting the app experience first and the technology second.
